Longshore
Longshore was built in 2019, from a fibreglass mould I took from the barge boat 'Atlas'. The shape was tweaked slightly to make her a better sailing boat, and I made a simple balanced lug rig for her.
Since then I have sailed thousands of miles in her, cruising the East Coast. She is incredibly capable, and feels very safe at sea. She's surprisingly fast too, owing to her lightness more than her shape. Her speed, combined with her traditional good-looks made her a real head turner, and attracted the attention of the sailing media. She went on to win a Classic Boat Award in 2021
The concept for Redwald came directly from my experiences sailing this boat: taking everything she does so well and making improvements where possible. Raedwald is about 18 inches longer than Longshore, and her underwater shape is sleeker, but in most respects they feel like sisters to sail.
